Our Food
FOOD IS THE ONE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE
Food is the one true universal language that cuts through cultures, age, gender, and geography. Take any culture at any point in history, food has been its common denominator. Eating together has been the cornerstone of our civilization from our hunter-gatherers days until today. For all of human history, food has been used as the primary way to connect, heal, mourn, celebrate, and to build a community and create a sense of place.
a taste of new Halifax
The Garden’s menu offers a taste of Halifax’s growing and diversifying culinary scene. Our food is designed by our team of passionate industry professionals to highlight our locally cultivated products through an international lens. Our culinary team is using classic Nova Scotian food and incorporating international flavours that have broadened the pallets of Haligonians.
Our offering is guided by the Mi’kmaq word “Netukulimk”. As described by “UINR–Unama’ki Institute of Natural Resources“ Netukulim refers to “the use of the natural bounty of the Creator for the self-support and well-being of the individual and community while achieving adequate standards of community nutrition and economic well-being without jeopardizing the integrity, diversity, or productivity of our environment.”
